In our effort to win the Georgetown prize, Green Madison is looking to sign up more people to host energy house parties or have an energy audit. If you have considered having a home energy audit, but couldn’t fit it into your schedule, now is the time to do it.
Do you have cold and drafty rooms in your home? Mold, moisture, or ventilation issues? Is your energy bill high in comparison to the size of your home? An energy audit will provide you a clear road map of what is going on in your home in terms of energy loss and how to fix it.
Green Madison is a community-based effort to significantly reduce Madison’s energy use. Right now, Green Madison is providing a financial incentive for Madison homeowners to have an energy audit in 2016 as it competes to win a $5 million Georgetown University energy prize. During this competition, a homeowner can host an “energy house party” to receive a free energy assessment, including recommendations for practical improvements and follow-up assistance applying for rebates to help cover the costs of the measures. If you don’t want to host a party, you can schedule your own reduced-cost energy audit complete with prioritized cost-effective recommendations and simple access to rebates to make the upgrades affordable.
