Nominations Open for 2015 Safe Communities BeSafe Awards
Safe Communities Madison-Dane County is seeking nominations for the 2015 BeSafe Awards to be presented at the 9th annual BeSafe Awards Reception, October 15 at the Maple Bluff Country Club.
Safety leaders in the community will be recognized in four award categories that embody the coalition’s values and are the foundation of the coalition’s success: Leadership, Advocacy, Innovation and Collaboration.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

About the BeSafe Awards:
The BeSafe Leadership Award recognizes the following attributes in recipients:
- Taking a strategic, big picture view with an eye toward long-term success
- Holding oneself to the highest standards of performance
- Recognizing and celebrating accomplishments and contributions of partners
The BeSafe Advocacy Award recognizes the following attributes in recipients:
- Taking action to call attention to complex issues
- Giving voice to the voiceless
- Through relationships based upon partnership and empathy, offering knowledge, skills and confidence to advance goals of people they serve
The BeSafe Innovation Award recognizes the following attributes in recipients:
- Bringing a fresh and optimistic perspective to a challenging issue
- Utilizing resources creatively
- Taking risks to achieve goals
The BeSafe Collaboration Award is presented to partners who:
- Build bridges across organizations and sectors
- Create a mindset that values, and an infrastructure that fosters, joint action
- Set aside individual and organizational prerogatives to achieve a broader community
Information about Nominations:
- Nominees may be individuals, businesses, groups/organizations that work in partnership with others in the community to guide initiatives to save lives, prevent injuries, and make our community a safer place.
- Nominees should work on the Safe Communities core areas that correspond to our community’s top causes of injury and injury-related death: Traffic Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Drug Poisoning Prevention, Elder Falls Prevention, or Suicide Prevention.
- Nominees may be from the public and private sector, and include volunteers, community organizers, direct service providers, educators and policymakers.
- Past award winners are not eligible for nomination.
- BeSafe Awards will be given for Leadership, Advocacy, Innovation, and Collaboration.
