The fifth annual Mad City Vegan Fest will take place at the Goodman Community Center on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10 am to 5 pm. One of the featured presentations this year is a free vegan cooking class at 12:30 pm by professional chef, Dama Wells-Foster.
Wells-Foster will teach participants to make a number of dishes, including vegan tuna wraps and vegan chocolate mousse. And, yes, everyone will get to sample the food, too!
“A lot of people like the idea of being vegan because it can improve their health while helping to protect animals and the environment. But there’s often a misconception that it’s difficult to be vegan,” said fest founder Hannah West. “After Dama’s class, everyone will see how easy it is — and how delicious it is.”
Admission to the fest is free and everyone is welcome — from omnivores who are just curious, to longtime vegans and vegetarians.
In addition to the free cooking lesson, there will be a variety of speakers, exhibitors and delicious food (free samples and larger portions for purchase). There will also be raffle drawings throughout the day. And everyone gets a free raffle ticket just for showing up!
Mad City Vegan Fest is a project of Alliance for Animals and the Environment. A complete list of speakers, exhibitors, vendors and raffle prizes can be found at www.veganfest.org.
