STATUS UPDATE
Planned work for the week starting Monday October 8, 2012.
Work
- The project is will be fully switching to stage 5 on Monday October 8, 2012. Work will continue on the medians with electrical and concrete items. Work will continue on the north side of University Avenue to finish the landscaping, signing, and other finishing items.
Traffic
- The Off Ramp from University Avenue to Old Middleton Road will be opened Monday October 8th by 6 AM.
- Westbound traffic will be shifted to the right lane of the roadway on Monday October 8th+/-.
- The project will maintain one lane of traffic in both directions on University Avenue.
- Left turns will be maintained at the intersections only.
Businesses
- All Businesses on University Avenue are open and have access by right turns from University Avenue and surrounding streets. Please plan your route to businesses so that you will only need to turn right into their driveways.
- The final Businesses meetings will be at the construction field office located in the Mid Town Square at 6333 University Avenue, Suite 108, Middleton on Friday October 12th and 26th at 9:00 AM.
Pedestrians and Bikes
- The Spring Harbor Pedestrian Underpass is open for the public to use during daylight hours.
- Most Bus Stops will be maintained or temporarily moved in the same vicinity.
- One Pedestrian Crossing will be maintained at all signalized intersections.
- An accessible route for bikes is being maintained for the full length of the project utilizing the sidewalk on the south side of University Avenue from Allen Blvd. to Whitney Way.
- The pedestrian path from Whitney Way to Indian Hills Park is closed. The detour is Whitney Way to Old Middleton Road to the Old Middleton Road off ramp. This closure will be removed when the entire north side pedestrian path can be opened from Allen Blvd. to Whitney Way.
PROJECT DETAILS
University Avenue (Segoe Road – Allen Blvd): Work is scheduled March 19 – October 26. The project includes: pavement replacement, curb & gutter replacement, spot sidewalk replacement, street lighting, traffic signals, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and pavement marking.
University Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction at all times for the duration of the project. Left turn bays will be maintained at all signalized intersections.
Delays are expected during the peak commuting times. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes as well as alternate forms of transportation during this project to help ease construction. Access to all business will be maintained at all times during the project.
