Planned work for the week starting Monday July 23, 1210.
Work
- The project is in Stage 3 to prepare the median areas for Stage 4. Stage 4 is estimated to begin August 6th+/-. Median area work will consist of removals, storm sewer, grading, base, and temporary asphalt.
- The Old Middleton on ramp to University Avenue will be closed for 2 weeks from Monday July 23rd at 5:30 AM through Sunday August 5th.
Traffic
- The Old Middleton Road on ramp detour will be Whitney Way and Right onto University Avenue.
- The project will maintain one lane of traffic in both directions on University Avenue.
- Left turns will be maintained at the intersections only.
Businesses
- All Businesses on University Avenue are open and have access by right turns from University Avenue and surrounding streets. Please plan your route to businesses so that you will only need to turn right into their driveways.
- The next Businesses meetings will be at the construction field office located in the Mid Town Square at 6333 University Avenue, Suite 108, Middleton on Friday July 6th and 20th, 2012, 9:00 AM.
Pedestrians and Bikes
- Most Bus Stops will be maintained or temporarily moved in the same vicinity.
- One Pedestrian Crossing will be maintained at all signalized intersections.
- An accessible route for bikes is being maintained for the full length of the project utilizing a combination of the existing path and sidewalk on the north side of University Avenue from Allen Blvd. to Capital Ave., and on the south side from Capital Ave. to Whitney Way.
- The pedestrian path from Whitney Way to Indian Hills Park will be detoured while the retaining wall is constructed. The detour is Whitney Way to Old Middleton Road to the Old Middleton Road off ramp. This closure is anticipated to be completed August 13th+/-.
University Avenue Bike Path (Capitol Ave – Old Middleton Rd): Work is scheduled July 9 – August 6. The multiuse path on the north side of University Avenue will be closed from Capitol Avenue to the Old Middleton Road bridge. Construction activities will begin on the north side of University Avenue in the areas of Spring Harbor Drive, for construction of the pedestrian underpass, and on the north side of University Avenue at Whitney Way for construction of retaining walls. Pedestrians and bikes will be routed to use the sidewalk on the south side of University Avenue in these areas.
Additionally, the pedestrian path from Whitney Way to Indian Hills Park will be detoured while the retaining wall is constructed. The detour will be Whitney Way to Old Middleton Road to the Old Middleton Road off ramp. PROJECT DETAILS
University Avenue (Segoe Road – Allen Blvd): Work is scheduled March 19 – October 26. The project includes: pavement replacement, curb & gutter replacement, spot sidewalk replacement, street lighting, traffic signals, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and pavement marking.
University Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction at all times for the duration of the project. Left turn bays will be maintained at all signalized intersections.
Delays are expected during the peak commuting times. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes as well as alternate forms of transportation during this project to help ease construction. Access to all business will be maintained at all times during the project.
