The City of Madison Parks Division will be implementing a number of improvements to Hoyt Park this year. These items include
- improving safety along the stairways
- invasive tree removal
- installation of native plants
- fixing the damaged stone retaining wall at the bathroom/storage building
- asphalt patching the area between the newly-restored pavers at the Hoyt Park entrance and the paved path
- replacing deteriorating limestone steps
- investigating opportunities to keep water from ponding at the Owen Parkway overlook wall
Staff has been working with the Friends of Hoyt Park on the proposed improvements which were presented at the January 12, 2012 Friends of Hoyt Park monthly meeting.
Construction will be phased and will occur throughout the summer. The first phase will include removing approximately 21 invasive trees to help promote the native plant communities within the park.
Staff will be available to answer questions on Monday, March 12 from 6:30 – 7:00 pm at Sequoya Branch of the Madison Public Library, 4340 Tokay Blvd, Madison, WI 53711.
