If you are bummed that this winter just hasn’t panned out so far for winter sports – cheer up because this weekend is the Madison Winter Festival. The Winter Festival starts Saturday! Over ninety truckloads of snow will transform Capitol Square into a race and recreational venue. Come enjoy cross country skiing, a tubing hill and free hot chocolate!
You can also cheer brave souls on as they jump into the icy waters of Lake Mendota from Olin Park. Saturday, February 18 is the Madison Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics.
Or maybe you are the type of person who would rather escape winter weather altogether! Olbrich Botanical Gardens is hosting the Hale O Malo Polynesian Dance group at Olbrich Botanical Gardens Olbrich’s Children of the Rainforest series! Performances are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 18. Tickets are available at the door for $3 for ages 13 and up, $2 ages 2 to 12, and free for 2 under.
On Sunday, February 19 from 2p.m – 3p.m. Olbrich Botanical Gardens is also hosting a family fun concert called Kicks for Kids. Fox and Branch performs family folk music. $1 donation appreciated.
