The Department of Planning and Community & Economic Development, Planning Division, is pleased to announce that the 2012 Neighborhood Grant Program cycle has opened. The program is designed to help neighborhood associations build capacity, beautify public places, and plan for the future. Grant projects help to improve the quality of life in neighborhoods, and the City as a whole.
Over the past 12 years, the Neighborhood Grant Program has allocated grant dollars to help fund locally-based projects to beautify a gateway or gathering place, build leadership skills, or plan for the future. The results have been amazing: neighbors have taken on some 225 projects realized with over 10,000 volunteer hours. The grant program has provided funding but it is neighbors’ ideas, determination, and pride that have created the successful projects that are part of the Madison landscape.
It’s time again to think of an idea and to make it happen. Get your neighbors together and create a project proposal today. It will be wonderful to discover what new grant projects will transpire in 2012.
