What is it?
KaBOOM! is a non-profit organization that helps local communities build a playground in just one day with the help of 200 volunteers. Madison Parks, Goodman Center, Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer and the local community are coming together to build a new playground at Wirth Court Park on October 6, 2011. The playground will be built from the ground up in one day with the help of hundreds of volunteers.
How can I help?
- Volunteer: Volunteers are needed on our prep day October 4 and on the actual playground build day on October 6. Volunteers are requested to volunteer for the whole day. The build day is rain or shine.
- Prep Day volunteers, October 4, 8am-4pm
Prep Day volunteers will help with getting the site ready by sorting all the tools, doing an inventory on the playground sections, assisting with site work and much more. - Build Captains, Thurs, October 6, 6:30am –3pm.
Please note: there is a build captain training on October 4 at 12-12:45pm.
Build Captains are leaders on the build day. These lead volunteers will coordinate a volunteer group responsible for a specific task. - General Build Day Volunteers, Thurs, October 6, 8am – 3pm
Build day volunteers are the essential part of getting our work done: volunteers may assist with projects including assembling playground equipment, mixing cement, spreading mulch-like material, and many other tasks.
