This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of Madison’s most historic buildings in its new James Madison Park location. Built nearly 150 years ago, it was the first synagogue to exist in Madison. Due to its place on the National Register of Historic Places, it was also the first building to be moved in the history of Madison on July 17th, 1971. Join us as we discuss the building’s interesting past, the moving of this grand building, and the preservation process that has kept it as beautiful and unique as ever. The mayor will be making an appearance and light refreshments will be served.
